So far I have searched a way to implement a spellchecker for my local language in Microsoft Office: It seems that Microsoft Office uses the Language Packages to provide spell checking for other languages. Is there an API to implement this Language Packages? Sorry if this question is repetitive, I have check a previous question about this topic.
You can change Word’s default language dictionary:
- Choose Tools→Language.
- The Language dialog opens, and you see a list of languages. Select the new language to use and click the Default button.
- A pop-up will appear to change the default language.
- Click Yes to change Word’s default spelling and grammar checking language to the language you selected. Click OK to close the Language dialog.
Update: This didn’t stick for some documents that I created and amended with this. Until the latest update, and now they seem to be sticking to the language I selected.

Insert Symbol on M.S. Word (Windows and Mac)

The Insert Symbol tool of Word allows user to insert a single character. This especially helpful for rarely-used characters.
Office 2007 (Vista and WIndows XP)
The Insert Symbols tool is found in the Insert tab to the far right. Click the Symbol (立) icon to the far right to open the Insert Symbol window. See steps #2-3 in the 'Other Versions of Word' below for remaining instructions.
Other Versions of Word (Windows and Macintosh)
To use the tool:
- Go to Tools then Insert Symbol.
- Make sure the Symbols tab is selected.
- A window will open showing available characters. Highlight the desired character, then click the Insert button. In some cases, you may need to scroll up and down to see all the characters.
Note: Users of Microsoft Offce 2004 for Mac will see the Character Palette instead.

Superscript and Subscript (Windows and Mac)
The easiest way to add superscript and subscript to a Word File is to use the Superscript and Subscript text formatting commands.
Keyboard Shortcuts
The quickest method is via keyboard shortcut. Highlight text and use the following shortcuts to make any text superscript or subscript.

Notes
- The Command key on the Macintosh is the open apple key or the one with the 4-petal cloverleaf symbol
- You can user the shortcuts toggle between superscript/subscript and plain text formatting.

Highlight text and click the either the Superscript button (x2) or Subscript button (x2) in the ribbon toolbar. They should be near the other text formatting options such as bold and italics.
Macintosh and Windows (pre Office 2007)
You can access the superscript/subscript commands via a menu as follows:
- Highlight text.
- Go to the Format menu then select Font (Control+D (Win)/Command+D (Mac)).
- In the Font formatting window, check the Superscript or Subscript option. Click OK to finalize change.
Spell Checking Non-English Text in M.S. Word

Microsoft includes utilities to spell check in major world languages such as Spanish, French, German, Chinese, Japanese, Dutch, Finnish, Hindi, Hungarian, and many others. To access the spell checkers, you have to mark your text in a specific language.
Office 2007 (Vista and WIndows XP)
In Microsoft Word, you can mark text as non-English in reference to spell-check and other proofing tools. However, special language-specific dictionaries and tools must be installed for the proofing tools to work in languages besides English. See your Word manual or the Microsoft Web site (http://www.microsoft.com) for more information.
- Highlight the non-English text.
- Click the Review tab on the Word toolbar,
- In the Proofing section on the left, select the globe icon (Set Language). A pop-window will open where you can select an appropriate language.
- Perform the spell check. The non-English text will be checked against the non-English dictionary.
NOTE: If no list appears or the spell-check does not work properly, check to see if the appropriate dictionaries have been installed. They are available on installation CD's for Microsoft Office

This utility can change menus and help page settings in Microsoft Office applications from English to another language. However, special language-specific files must be installed first.
This is accessed by going to:
Programs » Microsoft Office Tools » Microsoft Language Settings.
NOTE: If the language-specific files have not been installed, then this utility will not take effect.
Jul 04, 2019 This button is in the lower-right corner of the AutoUpdate window. It will check if there's an available update.
